Hi, my name is Marika and I am the author of the book trilogy Diary of a Flight Attendant
I am an ordinary girl from a small village in Czech Republic who dreamed of seeing the world. After school, I did all sorts of jobs for a while, but it still wasn’t it. I wanted to travel. My plan to work on a cruise ship didn’t work out, but flying for Emirates Airlines did − and it changed my life!
I packed my suitcase and set off into the unknown. No longer as a passenger, but as a future Emirates flight attendant. For almost five years I lived in Dubai, visited over 65 countries, circled the globe more than 68 times, and experienced situations I could never have imagined before. Airports, hotels, different cultures − but also loneliness and quiet moments behind all that glamour.
I started writing notes to make sure I didn’t miss any of these moments. And that’s how Diary of a Flight Attendant was born, my personal confession about dreams, fears, and the real life of an Emirates flight attendant. One diary became a book. And then another, and another… because this story deserves to be told.
